The Art of Storytelling Speaker Panel

A speaker panel focusing on the art of storytelling

Year :

2026

Industry :

Education

Client :

SSF Clubs

Project Duration :

9 weeks

Overview

Before the pandemic I used to help organize speaker panels across downtown Toronto. So when our program coordinator at Seneca challenged me to do it for our program I quickly jumped at the task.

The Challenge

With no budget, I had to recruit like-minded students to volunteer their time and help make me this idea a reality. The biggest hurdle in all of this is making sure we had the proper permission to host an event at the school. This led me to creating the Seneca Design Innovators Club which allowed us to host events as part of the Seneca Student Federation.

The Process

I spent the last few months of back and forth trying to get approvals while at the same time coordinating tasks with my team as well as making sure all the event planning tasks were taken care of. I was also responsible for recruiting the speakers using the network I have built over the years. This project was completely student-led. The club went from having 0 members to 70 members in a span of a month.

Conclusion

In the end, we were able to successfully create a new club and host our first speaker panel with 40+ attendees. The overall reception of the event was great, students were pleasantly surprised with what they were able to take away from our speaker panel event and we hope to do more in the future.
